interprovincial buses currently we have a fixed operational time. But in real
case the travel time is depended on departure time. Here I try to identify a
method to develop a timetable based on dynamic travel time using crowd sourced
because of the requirement of a critical mass of participants (buses) for a
better result, crowd sourced data collecting systems are difficult to work with
the help of bus drivers we can collect tracking data with the help of GPS, Wi-Fi
and accelerometer by installing an application.
this timetable, passengers can get an idea about the travel time according to
the departure time. Not only they but bus drivers, bus owners and bus owners’
societies are also benefited.

is irrespective of departure time. But in real case the time taken for a
journey is depended on the departure time.
in peak hours operational time is longer.

I have selected Colombo-Mathara highway and normal way. Selected bus departure
interval is 15 minutes.

for this research is shown below
the GPS tracking device
routes are Colombo-Mathara highway and normal way. Colombo to Mathara buses and
Mathara to Colombo buses are taken for the research. Travel time for buses
which leaves in 15 minute intervals are considered. GPS tracking devices are
provided to bus drivers and data is collected.
