### TITLE OPTIONS ###GeekVape Aegis Review – Revolutionizing Vape DurabilityGeekVape Aegis Mod Review – Finally, A Vape That’s Life Proof### ARTICLE BODY ###When the GeekVape Aegis crossed my path, I knew it wasn’t your run of the mill box mod. At first glance, there’s no denying its attractiveness. But, that’s not what has the vape world scrambling to wrap their hands around its ergonomic casing. You know the saying, it’s what’s on the inside that counts? Well, when it comes to the Aegis box mod, this overlooked phrase rings true.GeekVape Aegis | What’s The Big Deal? Okay, so let’s get down to business. What’s so special about the Aegis? Sure, it’s aesthetically pleasing, but how many times have you bought into the promise of durability only to be let down? If you’re like me, more times than you want to admit. Here’s the biggest issues I’ve had with many previous mods: Delicate Design – If I wanted a Precious Moments figurine, I’d buy one. Sure, a mod can deliver large clouds rich with flavor, but if it breaks by simply looking at it wrong, it’s useless. Innovative (i.e. Short-Lived) Technology – Proclaiming the wonders of a hyper-advanced chipset is awesome, but only if it works. Essentially, most innovative chipsets either can’t deliver or can’t continuously deliver whatever it promises.Underwhelming Performance – I can’t tell you how many mods I’ve reviewed that promise long-lasting battery life and clouds so big your room looks like a disco from the 1980s.Too Many Options – It’s comes as no surprise that we love options. Have you ever been to The Cheesecake Factory? Their menu could serve as a dissertation. If you’re a novice to the vaping world, it’s easy to fall into the trap of more options equates better quality. While not entirely untrue, for the average user, the bulk of these options are overkill. What first peaked my interested in the GeekVape Aegis is its reported functionality. If it actually worked as advertised, it would be among a few advanced-level box mods capable of satisfying the aforementioned qualms (and then some). So, how did the Aegis fare? Let’s find out…GeekVape Aegis Review | Features, Functionality & DesignTo say GeekVape spared no expense designing the Aegis is an understatement. With a laundry list of features, it’s design accomplishes a rare milestone: powerful enough for experienced users, simplistic enough for newbies. If you’re just starting your journey into the world of vaping, you may feel certain functions are too “advanced” for your needs. However, GeekVape accomplished the almost impossible: usability regardless of experience level. Chipset | Near-Instant Response Rate for Unparalleled VapingI started vaping after becoming tired of spending nearly $300 per month on cigarettes. Financially my habit was draining. Physically, my habit was deadly. Outside of switching a decade-long habit, my biggest issue with novice-level mods was its interaction speed. With cigarettes, you receive an instant blast of smoke. Until I experienced advanced chipset mods, vapor production delay made it obvious that I wasn’t smoking a cigarette. However, this isn’t the case with the Aegis. Regarded as the cornerstone of the Aegis, its advanced chipset supports near-instant response. From the moment you push the firing button to vapor inhalation is around 0.015 seconds. What does this mean for your experience? An almost intuitive response rate that feels natural and effortless. If only I had this bad boy when I started my vape journey. Durability | Military Grade Shockproof Case If I had a dollar every time I dropped my vape, I’d have enough money to buy the GeekVape Aegis. And that’s a good thing, because this mod takes durability to the next level. Perhaps the biggest downside for almost all vapes is its delicate case.Even pricy mods seem to scratch, dent or break from normal wear and tear. Accidentally drop or step on your vape? Then get ready to fork over even more money for replacement parts or an entirely new mod. This is among the first mods to challenge the long-lived reality of box mod fragility. Considered by many to be the most robust box mod on the market, the Aegis is built upon military grade specifications for optimum protection against shock-induced internal damage. How? Let’s take a moment to explore the latest evolution in premium mod design. MIL-STD-810G-516.6 Shock Test StandardizationDoes this just seem like a random string of letters and numbers? Contrary to your first impression, military grade shockproof construction isn’t a fabricated phrase coined by vape manufacturers to sell more product. Quite the opposite, actually. The design team for GeekVape Aegis challenged the entire industry by building its mod based on the Department of Defense Environmental Engineering Considerations and Laboratory Tests standardization. Phew, that’s a lot of “official” words strung together. Essentially, MIL-STD-810G is a testing methodology intended to define the following: Equipment lifespan based on stress types and durations. Tailor testing environments for equipment-specific analysis (gives clear, accurate and thorough depictions of equipment weaknesses).Identify areas of weakness based on specific stressors, such as temperature, use intensity or physical impact. In the case of GeekVape Aegis MIL-STD-810G testing, the mod was exposed to Testing Method 516.6, which reviews the shockproof rating of the device. In order to pass the 516.6 test, the Aegis must withstand the following: Withstand infrequent (or non-repetitive) impacts, such as dropping the mod off a table, without damaging its frame and functionality.Remain unharmed after a major shock, such as accidentally tossing the mod against the wall (it happens, especially when changing bedsheets without ensuring your vape isn’t hiding under a fold – this may have happened to me once or twice). Resist scratches, like what happens when your vape and car keys dance around in your pocket or purse. Resist soil damage, such as dropping it in mud.Box Mod Made for Adventure | Waterproof, Dustproof & Life-Proof DesignSwitching from cigarettes to e-cigarettes isn’t just a step toward better financial health. Eliminating analog cigarettes and replacing them with a digital vape product, reduces carcinogen intake. In essence, you’re saving your own life. But, as I discovered during my transition from analog smoke to digital vapor, box mod limitations were my biggest hurdle. Unless you vape in a quarantine room, your mod’s going to be exposed to a lot. From rain to dust, and everything in-between, standard vape mods aren’t designed for life. Fearful of harming my mod, I avoided scenarios where it could encounter unsavory elements. Guess what happened? I started smoking cigarettes again. Shouldn’t your mod be as durable as a cigarette? I think so, and evidently, so did the design team when they created the Aegis. IP67 Rating – What It Means for Your Vaping LifestyleHave you ever thought of taking your vape to the beach? How about to a pool party? What if you want to explore the beauty of the desert, but are afraid of sand ruining your vape? Okay, the last one may be a stretch, but since GeekVape Aegis comes with a IP67 Rating, there’s almost nothing you can’t do with your vape mod in-hand. So what does IP67 stand for? Let’s dissect this often misunderstood rating system and see if it’s really as powerful as advertisements proclaim. IP – This acronym stands for The Ingress Protection Rating System, which is a standardized methodology used to determine protection levels against liquids and solids.6 – The first number in this code stands for “Protected from Dust.” This means it demonstrated viable protective measures against internal damage from dust, which is a surprisingly common problem among premium vape mods.7 – The second number stands for “Protected from the damaging effects of being immersed in water up to 1 meter.” Basically, you can sit in a hot tub and vape without worrying if the humidity (or accidental drop) will ruin its internal parts. The Power of Flexibility | GeekVape Aegis Battery CompatibilityIf you’re like me, then you’ve gained quite the battery collection over the years. The biggest drawback of switching to new box mods is battery compatibility. Thankfully, this vape is compatible with nearly every box mod battery cell type. This mod can use:18650 Batteries (includes the adapter)26650 Batteries 20700 Batteries (includes battery cap)21700 Batteries (includes battery cap)In my experience with premium box mods, this level of battery flexibility isn’t standard. Whether you have a gaggle of 18650 batteries, or accidentally ordered the wrong battery cell type, the GeekVape Aegis isn’t picky with its power source. Intuitive Digital Interface | Real Power Comes From ControlWhat good is having a premium box mod if you can’t figure out its settings and features? I can’t tell you how many mods I’ve used that claim to have powerful setting options. But I never experienced most of these features because its control panel was as complex as deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphics. To my surprise, the Aegis offers powerful setting manipulation that doesn’t require an engineering doctorate to understand. The clearly designed control panel gives you instant access to system options and status reports, which include: Power Mode – Details coil resistance, amps, voltage and total number of puffs. VPC Mode – Details P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 settings TC-TCR Mode – Details information for nickel, stainless steel and titanium coils for maximum temperature control. Bypass Mode – Details coil, wattage, amps and puffs when using the bypass operation mode. The overall design and button placement for the GeekVape Aegis is an impressive feat in UX design. The crystal-clear display screen is easy to read, even in broad daylight. Navigating the various settings and functions of this vape is surprisingly simple. The plus (+) and minus (-) buttons located below the display screen feel sturdy and offer satisfying feedback tension. Like almost every premium mod, the GeekVape Aegis works by pressing the fire button. Its location above the display screen is pretty standard, but it’s design is what sets it apart. The outwardly-curved button supports a solid connection between the mod and your finger. While slightly too-sensitive, it’s size and shape is a rare achievement in this industry. GeekVape Aegis Specifications | The Parameters of (Near) PerfectionTo be fair, the GeekVape Aegis isn’t for everyone. Novice users may find its extensive capabilities intimidating and experienced vaping enthusiasts may find its power limiting. This being noted, it does feature solid parameters capable of satisfying a variety of users. Minimum/Maximum Power: 1-100W Operation Modes: 5 output modes – VW, TC, TCR, VPC, BYPASSCompatible Coil Resistance: 0.05 – 3.0 ohm Temperature Range: 200 – 600 degrees Fahrenheit (100 – 315 degrees Celsius) Maximum Firing Timeframe: 10 secondsOperating Temperatures: -40 degrees to 80 degrees CelsiusMod Dimensions (not including tank): 37.8 mm x 46.8 mm x 88 mmMod Materials: Sillicon, Zinc Alloy, Leather, AluminumSafety Shutoff Features: Yes, activated at 85 degrees Celsius Connector Type: 510 Connector (fits most tanks)Firmware Upgrade: Yes, the GeekVape Aegis supports firmware updatesGeekVape Aegis Review | Pros and ConsIs this box mod the ultimate vaping experience? I’m afraid not, but in all honesty, the “ultimate experience” is subjective. While this isn’t the best vape on the market, it is one of the most solid, durable and flexible mods in its price range. Pro: Solid Battery CompartmentBatteries fit snugly in the secured compartment, which means no more rattling when walking with the vape in your pocket. Con: Too Complex for NewbiesAlthough once mastered the mod is a breeze to operate, if you’ve never used a box mod before, the GeekVape Aegis may be overwhelming. However, if you’re the type who skips the kiddie pool and jumps into the deep end without abandon, then you’ll enjoy this mod. Pro: Comfortable GripIts design is made to comfortably fit in your hand for a solid grasp. And don’t worry if you accidentally drop it, the mod is built for tough living! Make sure to protect your tank from impacts with a rubber protector ring. Con: Battery LifeDo you chainvape? If so, then the single-battery compartment may not offer enough juice to power your entire day. However, those who vape at lower wattages won’t find issue with battery life. Always running out of power in the middle of your day? Charge an extra battery and keep it with you at all times. When Durability Meets Desirability – GeekVape Aegis At the completion of my GeekVape Aegis review period, I ended with a long puff and a sigh of relief. While this isn’t the perfect box mod, it never set out to be one. However, GeekVape did set out to create a durable, long-lasting and complete mod. While there are some weak points, overall, the Aegis is worth its asking price. Do you have experience with the GeekVape Aegis? Let us know your thoughts about this box mod in the comments below!
